About Me

My photo
BC, Canada
I have been married to the same guy for a LONG time ! We have 3 grown children and the 5 loves of our lives that they have given us ... 4 girls and one boy ! I have been crafting all my life and found my true addiction when I taught myself to use Copic Markers and introduced them into my card making ! I am NOT certified in the use of Copics but that doesn't stop me from creating with them ! I always been a bit of a crafting rebel and don't follow directions well !I love crafting with my hands and seldom will you find them idle as they usually have a crochet hook , knitting needles or a book in them . Exercise is not my strong suit ! LOL ! My husband and I also love camping in our RV ( weather permitting ... as in NO snow !) so most weekends from Spring to Fall you find us camped somewhere with our 3 Yorkies .... though don't tell them they aren't BIG dogs ! Hope you enjoy my little touch of my life .... the creative and the real life !

How true this is

Thanks Sandi for sharing this with me ...... yes , growing up was fun and dangerous . We raided her Mother's fridge on a regular basis for cheddar cheese and crackers , drank a ton of Kool-aid , ate eggs right from her Mom's chickens .... climbed Giant's Head Mountain without supervision .... before we were even near being teenagers and were even known to go tobogganing on things that were metal ( like an old truck hood ! OOPS ) ........................... and we lived to tell the tale ! LOL !

Here's to US!!!!

No matter what our kids and the new generation think about us,

WE ARE AWESOME !!!!

OUR LIFE IS LIVING PROOF !!!!

To Those of Us Born

1930 - 1979

At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno.. If you don't read anything else, please

read what he said..

Very well stated, Mr. Leno.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE

1930's, 40's, 50's,

60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered

with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes,

we had baseball caps

not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight.. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on..

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps

and then ride them down the hill,

only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's,

no surround-sound or CD's,

no cell phones,

no personal computers,

no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.

We ate worms and mud pies

made from dirt, and

the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes..

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.

Those who didn't had to learn

to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best

risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all..

If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

~

The quote of the month is by

Jay Leno:

'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us...go ahead and delete this.

For the rest of us...pass this on.

Thanks for the memories !!!!

This is the EDWIN in a Cap Stamp with Edwin's Town though I cut out just one stamp from the three house image !Peggy's Pretty's , Memento ink , Copics , Bazzill edges and Bazzill paper were used to create my card . The stamped images are on Neenah paper .... also carried by Little Stamp Shoppe .

Holiday .......... continued !

Our second week of our September holiday went well . Having all the problems with the RV repaired made for a much more relaxing week . We changed plans and didn't go with our original holiday but headed back south to see DD & her family for a couple of days . We stayed in a campground as the RV wouldn't fit in their driveway . Was a good relaxing few days ... even if the camp spots are tight ( after camping at CCC all summer where the spots are HUGE ! ) . Was great to see the kids . Aiden has grown so much maybe not in height but he is so funny ! He did an impression of Grandpa that had us all in stitches ! What a little clown ! The weather was AMAZING !!! On Wednesday it hit 30 C ! Unheard of for this area .... the bad thing was it was super windy all day so we couldn't leave our awning out and we had no shade where we were camping ! Did end up using the AC though ! LOL !

Thursday we headed back up the highway to Hixon to camp in our favorite campsite ... it felt like we were going home ! LOL ! This time we decided to try another spot instead of #1 ...... LOVE the spot we were in .... #4 ! It was HUGE and the dogs couldn't see everything that was happening in the park so they didn't bark as much ! The campground owners Merv & Kim brought supper over to our RV on Thursday night ! How sweet was that ? We had a great visit  ! Friday Dh & I walked the creek and  all that had happened there since early Spring . Amazing what nature can do .....and I forgot my camera in the RV !

Friday evening our good friends came in with their unit so we spent Friday evening enjoying our campsite with them . Saturday we went to the local pub for lunch ( it is right across from the campground ! ) . Always some colorful local characters there ! Saturday evening we ended up having a potluck supper with Merv , Kim , Denis & Kathleen ........ was a lot of fun and there were a few that REALLY enjoyed the wine a bit more then the others ! LOL ! The weather has changed to Fall , cool , crisp evenings and mornings .... -4 C on Sunday .... oh joy !!!

Well , Sunday found us wandering back home and the RV is being emptied , winterized and getting ready for storage this weekend ! The 2009 camping season is definitely over for us but it was a great one all things considered ! We couldn't have asked for better weather either .... even with those horrible storms at the start !!!

Looking forward to Camping 2010 !!!!!

A quick stop at home

We made a mad dash out of here on Monday afternoon as we had to take the RV down to the Valley so it could get some warranty work done . We stayed with MIL while the Taj was in the hospital ..... for 2 1/2  LONG days !!! I did get to go out with my cousin Lorraine and her daughter ( my second cousin )  Shellie and her daughter ( my 3rd cousin ) . Was great to see all of them and finally meet Miss Savannah . She definitely has a twinkle in her eye and is she going to give her parents a run for their money in about 13 years ( she is 3 ! ) . I think it is about 11 years since I have seen them but I sure enjoyed visiting them ! I promise next time will be a lot sooner then 11 years ! Friday afternoon found us wandering up the road in the Taj as she was given a clean bill of health ... and we we were a few dollars lighter !

Our next stop was in Salmon Arm where my friend Lisa met us later in the day with her son Brayden . We had a short visit then went out for some fabulous Greek food ..............  YUMMY !!! Saturday Lisa came by and played tour guide for us . She drove us all over the Shuswap Lake area so we could check out camp spots ! Thanks Lisa for a fabulous time ! Later that evening Lisa , her hubby and son came for a visit ...... all I can say is two men are up the " 40 Creek " and both were feeling NO PAIN when the night ended ! We had such an enjoyable evening ! I can hardly wait for the next meeting as I will be sure to have the Tylenol ready for the next morning ! LOL !

We headed out on Sunday morning and went up the Yellowhead Highway rather then Highway 97 which is riddled with construction zones , dirt and bumps ! Valemount was our stop for the day and it was sunny and warm there .... unusual as we usually have it very cold and windy there . It definitely cooled off during the night though . We did get some rain today though and it was just as we hit home ! Fall is definitely here as the trees are turning color  but we had to get passed McBride before we really noticed it . Fall colors are late this year !

Tomorrow we are heading out again but we are heading down to see the grandkids ( well 3 of them ) as we decided that a quick jaunt to Prince Rupert just really wasn't how we wanted to see that country  ....... another trip to plan for a later time !

On the road again ........................... to be continued !

How confused is this !

This is my lilac bush that is in my backyard .... the crazy thing is BLOOMING again !! Doesn`t it know it is September and not June ? We have had a great summer so maybe it is confused as it hasn't cooled down yet nor have we had frost ( Whoopy !!! )And these are the " kids " one morning last week when it did get down to 2 C ........ they were all laying in the bed in front of the fireplace .... which was on !!!
Totally crazy !!!!

Getting organized

and a whole lot spoiled ! I finally found a system that is going to work well for my room that will keep it fairly neat and organized !  3 years ago I bought a desk from Best Scrapbook Shelf .com . What started out as desk purchase has turned into a work in progress for my tiny room . I have since added a paper tower ( they have been changed in design since I bought mine ) and a great double tower that houses my stamps and some other goodies ! still , I found my room was in total disarray and I couldn't find my desktop most of the time with paper , stamps and ink caddy and my tool caddy ! I finally ordered the hutch for my desk last month ( bare ) and added my own setup of drawers and shelves . I just bought 6 3.5" drawers with the hutch then rearranged my setup ! I am so pleased with the whole setup but still was having trouble accessing my markers  and pens . I found this great storage system by Quickutz called a Magpie Storage System and it works perfect to store my Copic markers within reach !!! I have my SU markers in a CTMH marker tower and my Glitter pens , Souffle pens and other fun pens in a SU marker holder !!! Nothing like mixing up brands but hey it works ! LOL !  I also have a Clip-It up that is loaded to hilt to hold my rubons , glittery things and anything else I could get on it ! Too bad I am about an inch too short for reaching the top tier comfortably and spend a lot of time standing on a stool ! I also have an ancient wall unit section that houses more stamps , my albums and my pocketbooks that are waiting to be read !!!
So this is my CRAPPY ROOM where I can hide from the sports and I get to do my own thing .......
By the way , the desk has been rearranged again since these photos were taken ........................ it is ano ongoing process ......... like the buying and stashing of my " goodies " ...............

More Magnolia Stamp Cards

How cute are these Magnolia stamps ? I find that I can't seem to get enough of them and am having so much fun creating with them ! Are you getting tired of them yet ?
Ribbon , lace , Prima flowers and leaves , some brads and Peggy's Pretties along with my Copic markers are getting a good workout lately !!!
You never know what I am going to play with next !!!

I WON !!!

A set of stamps and a gift certicate from PaperWorks Company http://paperworksco.com/ for posting their BLINKIE is my side panel that was to introduce their newest stamp set ! Go visit their site to see it !

Now I am off to some retail therapy on their site as I wouldn't want that GC to go stale !!!!!!! LOL ! Look out Copics , here I come !!!!

And lets hear it for .....

Johnny Reid and Victoria Banks !   Not the greats photos but my camera battery died right after I snapped these photos .... and we were sitting a fair distance away ! Johnny Reid put on a very energetic show and his music is wondeful ...... He had the crowd eating out of his hands immediately as he actually went into the crowd the first song ..... something you don't see here very darn often . My biggest complaint of the evening was that the evening was way too short ! With Johnny's Scottish accent and such a very exuberant crowd it was a fun evening ......................... I think I had his song " Dance With Me " in my head for days after !!!!

Victoria Banks was a great opening act and she did the whole 1/2 hr accoustically ! She put on a great show as well !
