Just Magnolia challenge week 45..... Tent card

 Edwin on a bike was main focal point but what is a boy without his dog ! I also used a background stamp, used my Nesties to cut out the oval and some old stash ribbon tape !

 The card is going to be used for my Grandson  Aiden's 3rd birthday this weekend ! I hope he likes it !

An inchies card for Drunken Stampers

 This week was a bit of a challenge as I had to come up with an " inchies" card for over on Drunken Stampers challenge #6 . I am not a fan of  " inchies " as I find them piddly to do but decided I would give this a try regardless . I used my Ellen Hutson viola cupcake stamp and then used my watercolor pencils to color them . It has been awhile since I actually used my watercolors and it was fun ! still not a great fan of " inchies" though ! LOL !

So this is my card for Drunken Stampers ...... Give it a try and let the world see what you can come up with !

Just playing and creating

 I read a blog by Suzanne Dean then watched her You Tube video here on using Copic markers like distressed ink used in Scandinavian distress ink painting on stamped images . Well I am not great about following directions to a tee and had to add my own twist to this technique . I added brown Copics and did some highlighting and smudges of color ... I call this technique Distressed Inks meets antiquing ...... or OOPS , I goofed but I like it ! LOL ! I will have to play more with the Distressed Painting to get it " right " but it is sure fun to play and make a mess ! LOL !

 So without further comment , here is my first attempt at Distressed painting ....

Tilda writing in her Diary is from the newest release from Magnolia's Raise the Ceiling , the envelope is from the Love collection 2008 ( I do believe ) I masked Tilda to stamp the envelope under her .

And YES , I remembered to take a photo of my Copics this time !  How few pens I actually used this time ...... so strange for me ! LOL !

Just Magnolia ..... Week 44 Birthday Challenge and Drunken Stampers

Well I played this weekend and got a couple cards done . One is for Just Magnolia Week 44 Birthday challenge  which I had no problem coming up a card for .

Here is Sweet Tilda from the Raising the Ceiling collection . I just love this little girl as she has captured my heart !

You are never going to believe me when I tell you that I forgot to write down my Copics ! I can tell you that I did use my Copic airbrush for the background though and love how this turned out ! I am beginning to love the masking and the airbrushing ! It will take a bit of playing to master it though ! The flowers are from Magnolia and are so beautiful in real life ! Martha Stewart was used for the leaves , Peggy's Pretties as an accent . The tag was hand rubbed with inks and stamped with a sentiment from Stamps of Life . The ribbon and lace was from Savvy n Sassy ribbon kits.

 I never got my Copics written down because I was in too much of hurry to get at this Birthday card for my neighbour . My first attempt at an easle card . It has meets the challenge on Drunken Stampers

using Lace and Glitter . I am not one to use Glitter much as I wear moe thne I get on anywhere it is supposed to be but I did manage to get some on these flowers !

Just Magnolia........ Week 43

I missed the wire completely for this challenge on Just Magnolia The challenge was to be done by 10 pm U.K. time not Pacific ! OOPS .......... there is a HUGE time gap so I don't qualify but that is okay . The card is done thanks to the sketch found here ........ I love the sketches that Jay-Jay does as they are easy to do !

So here is a cute Magnolia Edwin card

Aren't you proud of me as I actually remembered to take a photo of the Copic markers I used ! So much easier then trying to list them and getting the numbers right ! LOL !

The prima flowers were painted with Shimmers and are actually a bit darker then they show . The DP I used was from My Mind's Eye  Twinkle Little Boy's Glitter Collection pad that I picked up at Winner's for half price !!! The paper is beautiful with glossy and glitter pages that suit boy's . The stars are actually cut out off a page and are very glittery ! The gold / orange paper has glossy drops all over it ( they aren't showing her though ) .

Fabric Challenge on Drunken Stampers

Drunken Stampers Fabric Challenge  was a bit of a challenge this week . ( Click on the name to read all about it ). But with my Cuttlebug and my Nesties dies I met the challenge . One thing I did learn this week was be careful of which CB plate you pick up without looking ! ..... " C" plate cracks REALLY loud and really easily ! OOPS !!!!  anyways , back to the program ........

 Here is the card I made using fabric ( which I cut out on my CB with the Nesties Poinsetta die ) . OOPS , forgot to download it off the camera ......... LOL ! .......

Sarah Kay Stamped image ( one of my favorites ! ) colored with Copic markers ( again I forgot to write down my colors ! ) , Sakura white gell pen , pearl brads from stash , DP from stash , kraft cardstock ( Bazzill ) , hopsack cloth , Glimmer Mist

Flowers were cut out on Cuttlebug then srayed with Glimmer Mist , scrunched then dried .

A Day Late .....

for getting my card done and posted on DRUNKEN STAMPERS for the challenge posted here but it is done ! Somehow I lost a couple days this week ... not sure where they went but I didn't get all I wanted to do done ! Oh well , there is always next week !

What a fun challenge and I wish I would have got it in and had a chance at winning that awesome prize ! Oh well , another time ! LOL ! This card was put together with bits and pieces out of my stash , lots of glitter ( though it isn't showing up very well except on my fingers where it dripped ! LOL !  ), Sakura glaze pens , Stickles  , some glitter mist and lots of beads !

Another card for Stamp Shoppe

Jeanette over on Stamp Shoppe blog posted a sketch this week here that I thought I would play with . This is what I came up with !

Giggling Tilda just makes me smile ! I think she has to be one of my favorite stamps ! I also took some crative license and used some stamps from a new company called " STAMPS FOR LIFE " . Martha Stewar border punch , Copic markers (  forgot to write the numbers down this time ) , some Ice Stickles on the icing , Ribbon from Savvy n' Sassy , bows from Walmart , pearls from  my stash and Cuttlebug embossing folder to finish this card off !  Bazzil was used as the base for my card and the DP is something that was in my stash !

A week to get a few things done

 Heidi over on Stamp Shoppe has issued a February challenge of a traditional Magnolia card .... the winner to be the Guest Designer for April ! Usually I avoid this " guest " challenges as I just actually do my cards because I just love to play ! Somehow this time I just felt the " need " to join in  ( plus the fact I just won last month's challenge there so how could I resist ? LOL ) . A card a little different ....

 I thought it was time that I actually do a card that wasn't for a challenge , wasn't a Magnolia and wasn't girlie ! LOL ! Here is a cute stamp image from The Greeting Farm ... the ON THE FARM Collection . I made this for my dear Uncle who turns 80 this month and whom I was named after . He loved to fish in his little boat off the coast of Vancouver Island when he was younger . Sad that we get older and in poor health that we have to give up the one thing we love to do .

The image was colored with Copics ... oh how I do love these markers !

 I never know the makers of my embellishments as I usually remove them from their original packaging and store them in the drawers of my desk ........ it is just a case of finding the ones that work with what I am making ! I am not a planner .... I don't have all my supplies laid out neatly in front of me , I haven't picked out my cardstock or patterned paper when I stamp my image ..... I just run with a fleating thought and create ! I also have a desk and room that looks like a tornedo hit when I am finished but oh what a sense of accomplishment ! well worth every tiny piece of cut paper that lands on my floor and every mark of ink that stains my hand !

Thanks for looking and all the kind comments. I treasure each one of them ! Hopefully I will still be coloring with my Copics when I am 80 !

Magnolia Down Under .... Challenge #31

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #31 issued up the challenge of a sketch , girlie and orange on your card ..... The sketch , no problem , Girlie , no problem .... Orange .... another story ! Not my favorite color to work with until I remembered I had some sparkly paper with orange on it . Unfortunately , it has been in my stash forever so I don't remember the manufacturer !!!! OOPS !!!!  I struggled with this card so was happy when I said I am done !

For those of you that know me , you wouldn't be surprised when I say I am a bit of a rebel when it comes to using my Copics ........ I use lots of markers to achieve what I am looking for , lots of colors and usually have a HUGE mess on my desk when I am finished .... just ask DH !!!! LOL !

Spring is in the air ......... Somewhere !

Mandy doesn't care what the weather is like ! LOL ! I was talking to my Mother at the coast today and she told me they have a pansy out in their garden and that the dafs and tulips are peaking their heads out of the ground ! Like I want to hear that as we got another 4 or 5" of snow on the weekend ! oh well , we are on the downside of winter now so hopefully in a couple more months it will be done and not in another 3 or 4 !

Crazy week just past us . DH went to the specialist and we got very good news regarding his CT scan ..... no surgery needed and no Chrone's so the surgery he had in June was a success ! The Dr is a bit stumped as to why DH is having so many problems ( and if you know my DH , you know he would crawl to work on his death bed before giving in to any sickness ! To have him home one day never minds days on end just shows how lousy he has been feeling ! ) Anyways , the Dr has pulled DH off all his medications and wants him " dry " for a month to see if one of those pills could be the culprit ! Crazy when they are supposed to be a preventative for reoccurance ! Almost a week has passed and we are waiting for him to feel better ........ and then we both came down with a vicious head cold on the same day !!!!!!!!!!!!  Keep your fingers crossed that it is an easy fix and that by summer he is at 100% ! He was on the same meds prior to his surgery and having major issues so wjho knows maybe they were the cause !

 Some major purging and cleaning happening here . We have a tiny area we live in and the clutter is getting to me .... as are the dust bunnies !!!! Yes , Spring must be just around the corner for the urge to purge to have hit !

Drunken Stampers Challenge Blog

Peggy and Spike have started a card challenge blog so i figured I may as well do their challenge too as I seem to be in the mood to create a few cards and have fun doing it . Drunken Stampers ( got to love that name ! ) first challenge is to a celebration card .... any stamp , any paper and sentiment as long as it is a celebration ! Here is my take on the challenge

 I LOVE my Penny Black cat in the bra stamp and have probably used it more then any other stamp out of my vast collection ! The image is colored with Copic markers ( BG0000 , BG000, BG13 , BG15 , E30 , E31 , R11 , Y06 ,Y23 ,Y32 ,W0 W1 ) , Some BG rubons and Spellbinders nesties on DP from my stash . Cardstock is Bazzill and also came out of my stash ! Cheers is punched from a Martha Stewart Christmas punch .

Paper Sundae Challenge #2

I am just getting this in just under the wire for the second challenge  at Paper Sundaes . My card was done a few days ago but then I ran into problems with my scanner ( sorry the card looks so blurry ! ) and then I came down with a monster head cold and headache . I think I have slept the last 2 days away ! Anyways , here is my card !

 The challenge was to make a sundae with brown , pink , lace and flowers ! TFL !!!

Off to do my link and hope to remember to keep track of my Copic colors next time !

Awesome blog candy

Jacque's Joie de Vivre has some beautiful Valentine blog candy to give away here.( click on Jacque's name and scroll down to find the post ! LOL ) ..... Sadly this woman with so much talent has also been diagnosed with breast cancer and is now going to be undergoing treatment starting next week ! Seems more and more women are being diagnosed and whether it is to the mammograms  they are having , the self awareness or the education that is being put out there ... it is all good as this disease can be treated and hopefully cured 100% before long . So to my online and " real " friends , make sure you are self aware of your body and the changes , get a mammogram and mostly don't be " afraid " to visit your Dr and demand an exam ! Mammograms in BC are paid for through your health insurance and you do not need a Dr's referral so please make that appointment ! October may be Breast Cancer  awareness month but we should be aware ever day and every month !

 So for Jacque , Peggy and Roberta ......  Thank all of you for bring this awareness to my house through your own findings !

Just because .......

Another week is starting and I have spent so much time playing in my room doing challenges , I figured it was just time to play and do another challenge ! LOL !

This card is for over on Savvy 'N Sassy where they have some of the best ribbon kits around ! I love  Rhea's ribbons and lace ! This was a weekly sketch challenge there .

Of course , I used Chilly Tilda and the snowflake circle.. two  cute Magnolia stamps . Copic markers ( E 00000 , E00 , E11 , E30 , E31 , E 33  ,E34  , R11,  R 20 ,BG0000 , BG000, BG00 ) , Bazzil cardstock , My Mind's Eye DP from their glitter stack .... amazing paper all glittery and embossed ... photos do NOT do this paper justice !.....  Sakura Gelly Roll pen white , clear star and glaze black , Stampendous sentiment and the lace is from Savvy N Sassy !

This was a card that grew out of fooling round with the Copic airbrush .... I was actually air brushing the flowers on a piece of white cardstock and when I was finished I knew I had to do something with the paper ! I ended up using the airbrushed Prima flowers , adding some jeweled brads , punching the edge with Martha Sterwart's daisy edge punch , stamped a CTMH sentiment on the cardsock in Staz-On ink ( Black cherry  ) and lightly sponged the inside of the card !

Another Christmas Tilda with wreath only I colored her dress bright as it reminds me more of the Hawaii then Christmas ! I used my  CB embossing folders and then lightly sanded the top of the embossing . The paper was then cut with MY CM shapes which I have NOT used in forever ! I even used stickers for the sentiment .... something else I seldom do any more ! This year I have swore to use up some of my stash and so far I am doing good !

And something I don't think I have mentioned before is I use Neenah Solar White Cardstock from Little Stamp Shoppe . I love this paper for all my stamping and Copic coloring ! Heidi will be closed for inventory for a few days and is changing her store a bit and her server but she will be adding some great things ... like the Magnolia flowers when she goes back online . Unfortunately she has made the decision to only sell in Canada but that works for me ! LOL !

Last week we had Springlike weather . Lots of sun , some beautiful warmer weather above 0 day and night . Lots of our snow has left but the last couple nights have been much cooler so that melt has now turned into ice ! Not good on the driveway , roads or parking lots as a lot of them are now outdoor skating rinks ! After falling last year more then once , I am very leary about walking outside ! I hate ice season !!! Looks like we are in for a few snowy days but our forests need some moisture so I will not complain or it can be another very dry summer .... and camping isn't much fun when you can not have a camp fire ! The countdown has begun .... in 3 months we could be packing the motor home up for another fun season ! LOL !

Dh was away for a couple of days last week on business and I have to confess I loved the down time ! Friday he went for his CT scan so we are waiting for those results which hopefully will be in by the end of the week .......... seems we spend a lot of time waiting ! Hopefully we will get some answers as to why he has run into problems already being his surgery to fix things was only 7 months ago !

I decided to make my Grandson , Aiden a cute little boy card for Valentine's Day that wasn't super mushy ! Not that he would notice as he isn't 3 yet ! LOl ! So this card is a first for me in playing with my Copic Airbrush for a background . It is going to take some practice but I sure had fun playing ! It was also a first in me using masking for my 2 images ! Time consuming but well worth it ! Now I am going to have to find more stamps ! ( Any excuse to shop ! LOL )

Another great find at Michael's was the LOVE rhinestones and the flowers on  clearance ! The key and heart were $ Store finds a long time ago so I am happy to say I finally have used them ! LOL ! The paper was from my stash and the heart pins were painted with Liquid Pearls to cover up the yucky colors they were before ! TFL and have fun creating !

Paper Sundae's First challenge

 I was so happy yesterday when Paper Sundae issued their very first challenge that I had to sit right down at my desk and create this card for it . My baby Magnolia stamp just arrived in my hands so I just had to play with her as she is too cute ! I tried something different with my BB folder too as I inked it up with some Black Cherry Staz-On ink before running the fold through the CB .... It turned out perfect with the Dotted Swiss folder and with a light sanding over the top revealed all these little dots . I also used some Minds Eye Glitter Paper Stack that I picked up at WINNER'S for $5 as it a bit beraggled so marked down ..... I LOVE a good bargain ! The paper is very shiny and pretty but the photo doesn't do this justice .... add a $ Store find ( the baby safety pin ) , some velvet ribbon from Savvy'nSassy and voila ! My first challenge card done ! Now on to the next challenge .................

Not the best start to 2010

 I have had DH under the weather since before Christmas .... not the flu but a reappearance  to his Chrone's Disease . The surgery in June just seemed to put him into remission with it for such a short while and we are both a bit depressed to have got our hopes up on life getting back to normal ( whatever that is ! ) . There has been little sleep in this house for well over 2 weeks ... worse then having a baby in the house actually ! DH is NOT a whiner but My Heavens the last few nights have been BAD ! I call it the clutch and grab syndrom ........ if you know my husband you know he is NOT the touchy feely type guy ( in fact it is the complete opposite ! ) but after a few nights of the hand creeping out from the blanket to clutch and grab my arm tightly , I am more then ready to strangle the bugger in his sleep ! LOL ! He is off to see his specialist this coming week in town as he could not get in sooner though he did talk to a specialist in Vancouver via telephone that has been so accessible and helpful with questions and answers ! Got to love Dr H ! The two Drs are consulting one another regarding DH as Vancouver is a plane trip and bill each time so DH has the benefit of the two Drs and great care ! This morning DH went to work as he is a stubborn man and has felt guilty about not being there ..... especially being he was on holidays the 2 weeks of Christmas and hadn't made it back in ( and he is the boss ! ) . His staff take bets now after any few days off as to whether he is actually going to get to work or not ! I don't wish this disease on anybody !

 Anyways , I have kept my sanity with my IPOD going on my new IPOD dock that DH bought me for my crappy room . I have been playing a creating a mess in my room and I LOVE it ! I would hang in there a lot more if I could ( dang housework and laundry just doesn't do itself though ! ) .

I will leave you now with a little Tilda Magnolia card I made up this week ... just because ! No challenge anywhere but more for the relaxation !

Magnolia Down Under Challenge - Stamp with a different use

Over on Magnolia Down Under Challenge #29 the challenge until January 17th midday is to use a Magnolia Stamp for something other then the intended stamp was for ....... example Christmas for a birthday , etc . I chose this Valentine Tilda for a Thinking of You card as she is so cute .... especially with the decorated cupcake which I used Rock Candy Stickles then some glitter over the top ... it is much more shiny IRL ! I enjoyed using this Tilda stamp so think she will quickly become one of my favorites ! It is also the first time I have colored Tilda with red hair and I am happy to report , I LOVE it ! The DP is from an old stash as is the ribbon . They just worked well together and I was pleased how quickly and easily this card went together !

Little Stamp Shoppe January challenge

Over on Little Stamp Shoppe the January challenge was posted and being I was a day late on getting my tag , I thought it would be a good idea and get my card done for the challenge early in the month and get in on the month end draw ! The challenge this month is to use your oldest Magnolia stamp and the oldest paper you have in your stash .... Well being I have a HUGE selection of " old " paper ( I do love to hoard my patterned paper ) I decided to use some of my Chatterbox patterned paper that has been " hidden " from the world . I LOVED the earlier Chatterbox patterned paper so it was a hard decision deciding what to use ! this is from their " rooms " collection , namely Loft and Corridor ! As for an " old " Magnolia ..... well I have only just started this love afair with these little guys and gals so none of Magnolias are " old " ! I did chose a stamped image from one of the older Magnolia Tilda's from the 2007 collection ..... Tomtinga Tilda ! My , how Magnolias have evolved in such a short time ! The newest release has Tilda wearing high heels ! ( Heidi has posted a card with her in her heels on the Little stamp Shoppe blog ) .

 Here is my take on the January challenge

Tomtinga Tilda is colored with Copic markers , some embellishments from my stash , rub-ons that have been sitting forever on my Clip-It Up , Peggy's Pretty's , ribbon and some Stickles finish off my card !

Happy New Year

 It has been a busy 10 days so I am happy I found time to sit and create a bit over the past few days . It is my downtime where I can unwind and hide in my room ! DH bought me a nice IPOD dock for my room so I can drowned out the hockey games that have been non-stop on our TV since we got back from DD's on Dec 29th . I will be glad when Monday comes and life can become normal .... whatever that is ! DH has been on holidays since December 24th and although it has been nice to have him home , it is definitely time for him to go back to work ! Holidaying in the good weather is great as we can jump in the RV and just go ... winter holidays aren't great as the RV is in strage and we have no desire to go to some exotic place that is going to require a long plane ride ! LOL !

 Christmas has come and gone and we enjoyed the time with each of our kids and their families . Santa ( and Grandpa and Grandma ) was very generous to say the least ! New Year's was quiet here  as DH & I chose to stay in and watch a movie ... after all his hockey games were over for the night . I made it to bring in 2010 by myself as DH went to bed before 11 ( still later then he usually goes ) .

 We made NO New Year's resolutions here as we never keep them regardless ! Hopefully we can both make a commitment on some weight loss around here though as we both need to ! I am sending a huge bage of choclate to work with DH on Monday to get it out of the house ... I definately do not need the stuff here !

Here is a card I made using a cute Sarah Kay stamp . This image reminds me of my DD as she was so into Hollie Hobbie when she was little !

This card was a lot of fun to do and I even got to play with my Shimmers on flowers . Tilda with tulips is just the sweetest image to use for a thank you card !

Little Stamp Shoppe challenge !

I am just getting in under the wire on this one from Little Stamp Shoppe ( okay I was too late on getting this challenge posted ! I lost a day somewhere ... think it comes from having DH home ! When does Monday come so he can go back to work ? LOL )

Mini Challenge ... December  . It is creating a tag and between being behind on all my Christmas creating , I was happy to sit down after Christmas and actually do some creating ! I have really missed my time in my room ! DH as been watching a LOT of hockey for the past week so I have been able to hide from him !

Here is my take on the challenge ! I love this little sitting waiting Tilda ........ used as a Thank You card / tag !

Merry Christmas !

It may be not politically correct to say that but it is what I believe in , how I was raised and what the season is about ! The ground is covered with snow , the tree is decorated , the gifts are bought and wrapped and it just feels like Christmas ! Memories of Christmas' past as a child , as an adult and as a parent to three and now a grandparent of 5 bring joy and hope for the future . It brings love and memories and a few tears for those who have touched our lives and passed on . We reflect on what this year has brought us , the friendships we have made and those friends that have stood beside us for moral support to get us through some rough patches with health issues . We thank all of you , family and friends , Know you are loved though it may never be said !

Here are a few Christmas cards I did manage to do pre-injury and a few just this past few weeks .... though they took awhile as I had to keep stopping and resting the thumb ! Each one was made with love and thanks !

 Enjoy the Season , embrace life and make memories !

Not up to Par but crafting .......

And it feels so GOOD !!!! Here is a cute little card I made with Bandage Edwin and Bandage Tilda from Little Stamp Shoppe .

I can't thank the staff at Victoria Sports Physio ( I cut up a business card from there for the sign ! ) for helping get my thumb moving again so I play with my stamps and my Copics ! Still having trouble manuevering a pair of scissors though but it is coming along ! This was a simple card as I have a kazillion things to do between now and next week . Still have a few presents to buy , gifts to wrap and DH is whining because I have done no baking ......... I am ignoring that though as he doesn't need it and I gain weight just thinking about it !!! LOL ! All I really want to do is get in my room and play though !!!!

I am So Happy

I am so happy to be back creating after a 7 week lull with my sore thumb ! I am so far behind on my Christmas cards but they are coming along . This one is for my granddaughter as she loves lime green ..... and she wears glasses ! I am submitting it to Just Magnolia for their December 11th challenge ....... submit a Christmas card ! I love the challenges ! Well time to get busy and do a few more cards ...
