About Me

My photo
BC, Canada
I have been married to the same guy for a LONG time ! We have 3 grown children and the 5 loves of our lives that they have given us ... 4 girls and one boy ! I have been crafting all my life and found my true addiction when I taught myself to use Copic Markers and introduced them into my card making ! I am NOT certified in the use of Copics but that doesn't stop me from creating with them ! I always been a bit of a crafting rebel and don't follow directions well !I love crafting with my hands and seldom will you find them idle as they usually have a crochet hook , knitting needles or a book in them . Exercise is not my strong suit ! LOL ! My husband and I also love camping in our RV ( weather permitting ... as in NO snow !) so most weekends from Spring to Fall you find us camped somewhere with our 3 Yorkies .... though don't tell them they aren't BIG dogs ! Hope you enjoy my little touch of my life .... the creative and the real life !

Canada Day 2007

While camping we had Canada Day so it was time to bring out the flag ....which went in the flower pot I had taken with me ! LOL ! Was a beautiful sunny day for a change and DD and family came to join us for a few hours . Grandpa did the weinie roast for the girls and it was fun ...more fun watching Delaney lose her marshmellows into the fire though or burn them to a crisp !!! LOL ! And spoiling our little Man is always a priority ! Hard to believe he is already 3 1/2 months old ! What a good baby and a sweetie ! DD left in the afternoon ( dogs at home that had to be let out ) so we visited with our neighbors - who are also camping down there - for awhile before relaxing back at our campsite . Just as we finished supper friends pulled in with their trailer and got one of the last spots available - which was right behind us ! We had a nice visit then the owner of the campground put on a wonderful display of fireworks for all to enjoy . It definately was a better July 1st then we usually have - which means we got NO rain !!! LOL !
Be loud , be proud as we are Canadian !!! Happy Birthday !

Bump , bump , bump .....

It has been a stress month but we have managed to move into July with hopefully less stress then June . DH is actually taking a short medical leave in order to get his UC under control . That alone tells you how sick he is as he NEVER takes a day off just because .... and now he is paying for it ! These beautiful flowers with the huge flowers in oranges and yellows were sent by the company he works for ! They are just beautiful ! And the beautiful arrangement with the butterfly was sent by my good friend Lisa as she was trying to cheer us up ! She is a good friend ! Thank you !!! These beautiful flowers have actually lasted over two weeks and the two roses just died yesterday and had to thrown out - sad ! They are my travelling flowers though as they have put on a few miles .as they came camping with us and definately brightened up the motorhome .. LOL ! When DH finally decided that he needed a few days of rest we headed out camping not far from town ( 45 minutes ) for 6 days . Was a wonderful relaxing week for the most part . The black flies and mosquitos almost ate us alive but we survived with a camper's perfume -OFF SPORTSMAN !!! I did manage to read 3 large paperbacks too and DH slept on his chair ... I threatened to duct tape him to it and duct tape his Blackberry if I caught him looking at it !!! Was a strange camping trip as well as DH & I both had our cell phones turned on the whole time ( usually we " lose " them immediately ) .....
The reason for the cell phones is that DH's brother was diagnosed with brain cancer and was not doing well . More stress ! Right now he is finishing up a round of radiation ( 12 treatments ) and then it will be on to chemo . The cancer is aggressive so lets pray that he gets some positive results today when he sees his DR . DH actually flew out to see him when we got home and will be gone a few more days . MIL and SIL & her husband are there as well ......... but we leave that right where it is ! NO COMMENT !!!
I am hoping DH will stay off work at least all of next week ( his Dr signed a 4 week leave ) but he is a stubborn man and feels so guilty about not being at work and having others cover for him . I am not sure what he will do about our holidays either as we have 2 weeks booked at the end of July with the oldest son and granddaughter to go to a lake for some camping and fishing ...................
So the road is bumpy again .................

Father's Day

I didn't " forget " about Father's Day , it just wasn't a pleasant one here with DH being sick . He actually went to bed after a quiet weekend camping . He wasn't into visiting and just didn't encourage our friends to visit for long ...... and I totally understood that ! They might not have but they aren't the ones suffering either ......

However , Father's day does mean something to me . I have a Father that means so much to me . He is a quiet person who shows little emotion but is an old softy when you get to know him . We were terrified of him growing up but that was because Mom always threatened us with " WAIT UNTIL YOUR FATHER GETS HOME ! " ...Years later we found out he was a teddy bear and a pushover ... only it took the grandkids to figure that out . Go figure !!! LOL ! I Love you Dad !

And then there is my DH , my rock , my partner , my life ........ he is a silent strength that pushes me through life in an unseen way , he has stood by our children through thick and thin and he is their supporter in all things . He has shown them about confidence in ones self even when he is so unsure of himself most of the time ( and he should be so proud of what he has done with his life and the wonderful person he is ) , he has shown them about work ethics and how to be the best in their field and to strive just a litle farther ...... even though one offspring keeps slipping on this but some day he will find his footing and then look out - he is his Father's son . He has shown them that a life altering disease should stop life but to make it mean more and make the best of each day and to enjoy those little things . His shining light is his grandchildren and he gets very emotional when one gets a good mark in school or wins a swimming race or even if it is just their first smile . He loves me , he loves his kids and their spouses and he loves his grandchildren - all 5 of them ! He is the Best and he is so dearly loved ...so Happy Father's Day................... and I hope next year you can enjoy it !

A BIG BUMP IN THE ROAD......

If life hands you lemons then go drink taquilla !

It seems that just when you think life is going to start running smoothly and the road is straightening a big pothole sucks you in and you have to crawl out of that hole . That has been the last month since we were on holidays . First our Kandi , cocker dog , took so sick and we thought we would lose her to the big puppy playground in the sky . Well she has fooled all of us and is off her meds and seems to be holding her own . Actually she is quite spry for a lazy 11 year old !
But that was just a pebble on the road as to what we are facing right now . My DH has had a major flare-up of ulcerative colitis http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/colitis/ which has left him weak and very unwell . As of this weekend he will be on medical leave from work and on strong meds to try get this horrible disease under control . The next step will be hospitalization and possible surgery . If I can get him to stay at home for a week then I will consider myself lucky as he is a workaholic and HATES being " lazy " and resting ...as he calls it ! He feels guilty about leaving his staff in the lurch ( but that is what head office has people making big money to look after not the peons in the company ! ) which in turn will give him more stress and that is a LOT of the instigator in this disease .
To top off and to compound the problem , we just had word that his brother has been diagnosed with brain cancer . We aren't sure of the severity of it but the word is not good . I am a fatalist to a point though and I feel that he will fight this with all he has in him . My aunt that just passed away at age 80 had brain cancer 25 yrs ago and was a survivor and lived through 3 bouts of it ! DH is so very upset about this news though and once we hear the news from down east later in the week , we will make plans as to what we will do . We had hoped to just head out camping and sit and relax for the most part of next week with the motor home ( yes , I know that is not REALLY camping ! LOL ) but it will be away and we will relax ...... providing we aren't doing a trip that DH shouldn't be taking right now !
So if somebody has some ashphalt laying around or some gravel , could you fill this pothole so we can get back out of it ..................

We made it through another weekend !

Well after the week we had here , the sun came out and it turned HOT ! Of course this is the weekend we didn't go camping with DH not feeling well , one sick cocker ( but she seems to be getting better and holding her own ! ) and 2 puppies that not only got tattoed ( for ID ) , teeth pulled ( and I think we just paid for a world cruise for the vet on that one ! ) but they got neutered ! How is that for adding insult to injury ! Seems Ryder had low blood sugar in the morning so they pumped him with gloucose before doing the surgury ( at $64 for the bag of gloucose ! ) .... all was well when we picked them up and by today , they were pretty much back to normal . Ryder seems to be walking a little gingerly but I think he is more embarrassed about the shave job they gave him on one leg , one ear and underneath ! Of course , he is the one that has the long thick hair so it really shows !!! I can see a short haircut coming up before to long for him - providing he isn't tramatized by all this !

Seems the bad news just keeps getting worse instead of better . BIL was waiting the results from the chemo he has had for the past while and he got the news on Friday ... not good ! The tumors stopped shrinking and has now started to move agressively . He will find out this week what the next step is to be ... and they say this round of chemo or radiation will NOT be easy and he will be sick with it .... We are thinking of you BIL !

Dh is pretty upset with the news about his Br but as usual , he is trying to be tough and not have it show ... that could be why DH is having a major flare-up ! He can't get into to his specialist though until June 19th- CRAZY !!! Lets hope that will be good news as he remembers nothing of the procedure or what the specialist told him last week .........

Well there are clouds in the sky now and the weatherman is predicting more rain this week , more flooding for the south and DH said we may go camping next weekend .... GO figure ... IT is going to cool down to the mid teens and it is going to rain right through the next weekend .............I hope the weatherman is going to be wrong about the rain .....................

Am I crazy ?

This is beautiful Lac la Hache ( not the greatest photo ) but the only one I could get to upload on here ! Go figure ! LOL ! This lake has the most amazing sunsets on it ( and no I did not get a photo ! ) . The name means Lake of the Hatchet and there is a story that goes with it but I think you can figure it out ... it involves a man and a hatchet and the man loses the hatchet in the lake ..... HOW TYPICAL !!! LOL !!!
And this is the female eagle that I walked up on to take it's photo ... to about 3' of it actually ! Too bad the eagle blended into the building as it was a magnificient site !

Call me crazy ...................

Do you ever feel like you are in prison ?

The dogs camping ......... not much fun to be penned when 2 big dogs are running around lose and you have to penned up ... oh well , better safe then sorry ! Camping with our three dogs and our friends each had a dog was really something i can't say I would want to do again ! Don't get me wrong , they are all lovely dogs but it was total bedlam ! One very ambitious 9 month old Border Collie that ran away twice ( yes once right across a busy highway ! ) and a very spoiled , childlike yellow lab that her own lawnchair and blanket by the fire ...........and then our pups who have a barking problem !!!!
I think I will take the pen any day and have my dogs in prison .......

Home again , home again.....

We met friends from Alberta for a few nights of camping . How " rough " is it camping in a motorhome though !!! LOL !
The mountains around Valemount BC ........ Beautiful to look at but darn cold at night ! Even the water in our hose froze one night !
Another rainstorm coming in !
Dutch Lake at Clearwater BC .... and finally some sun ! Too bad the campground was a fine dirt that clung to everything .... the dogs especially ! We even had to find our own fire wood as a small bundle of wood ( 6 sticks , some kindling and a piece of paper ) was $6 ... and lasted about half an hour ! We did stay for 2 nights though before heading further south by ourselves .
On to Chase BC where we met my friend Lisa and her son Brayden ( what a sweetie and he is going to be a charmer when he is older as he is now at age 4 ! Look out Lisa ! ) . Lisa and I had a great gab session all afternoon and I even managed to feed them a half decent supper before they had to head home to Salmon Arm . DH enjoyed the two of them emensely and Brayden tired him out too ....it is hard work pushing the swing all afternoon !!! Hopefully we will get together again soon .... and she had better bring Wayne the next time too !!!
The next morning I woke with a raging headache and upset stomach but after a nap felt like pulling up stakes and heading on to Lac la Hache to Kokanee Bay . This is where my parents spent many a day camping on their travels to and from the North and this is where a few years ago the family threw their 50th wedding anniversary / family reunion . just about time to have nother reunion there !!! By the evening DH was feeling punk and we hit bed before 9:30 ... unheard of for me ! During the night Kandi , our cocker had an accident on the floor ( so unlike her ) and she crawled in on our bed ( something she never does ! ) .... lucky me got to clean up the mess in the morning and smell her breath too ......ewwww . DH still wasn't feeling well but we headed on up the road to Quesnel and Robert's Roost to spend a few days there with kids .The granddaughters are both turning into such beauties and the little guy is so handsome ! What a sweetheart . ....
Kandi had still not got better but still had accidents and was now vomiting . ( We put it down to the container of ginger snaps she stole off the seat - my fault as I forgot it was there ! ) Dh is not feeling any better either but insisted we would stay until Sunday morning ...we were home just at 10:30 am though ........ By Sunday night Kandi is shivering and listless but we decide to leave her until morning . Monday morning DH is still ill and doesn't go back to work ( that is something he NEVER does ! ) but spends 95% of the day sleeping . He got up long enough to take Kandi to the vet where they ran blood tests and we found out she had elevated ( off the chart elevated ! ) liver infection . So now she is at the clinic on IV antibiotics and we can only hope that will help . I went to see her this morning and she was up and wagging her little tail so she definately was feeling a bit better so hopefully the antibiotics are doing the trick . Otherwise we will be having to make a very hard decision at the end of the week . DH still isn't feeling 100% but is insisting he is going back to work tomorrow ............... and me , well I think I will sleep for the rest of the week ..............................

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mom's Day !
Happy Mom's Day to those out there that have a child or more , natural , adopted or step or otherwise . Whether the child is minutes old or hours old or years past . I am one of the fortunate ones to have a Mother still with me but each year you have to reflect back on past years and how many you may have left with her . She has silver in her hair now and probably more then a few caused by me . Of 4 children she gave birth to , only 3 of us remain . A daughter passed on so many years ago ( 1966 at the age of 5 ) but she has NEVER been forgot on Mother's day as she was born on Mother's Day in 1960 . The past has shaped us into who we are today with our own families and hopefully has made my sister and I better Mother's for it . One of us holds her children and grandchildren tight as where one of us has let her little birds sprout their wings and make it in the big worlds . Two have flown into their lives and embraced their lives and the offspring as where one seems to have trouble finding his path out of the nest . Someday his path with straighten and he will find the way ..... but he is my Baby regardless . And some day he will make a connection to his own little girl and have come full circle .A Mother's job is never done from that first second of life until her last breath but she leaves behind her a legacy for those she leaves behind . We do the best we can and motherhood does not come with instruction manuals . Some times it is a thankless job and sometimes it is very fulfilling ...being a Grandma says it all !

Old friends

When friends meet , hearts warm .

Not old in years but in the number of years we have known one another ! In the past few months a few old friends have reconnected and we have managed to get together twice for dinner . Some of these ladies took me under their wings and kept me sane while my kids were teenagers ! Looking back , we were good friends and reconnecting has just made life come a complete circle . One of our dearest friends , Marlene passed on a number of years ago to cancer and there isn't a week that goes by that I don't think of phoning her then remembering that is impossible . We remember her each time we get together ... and it is like she is there with us . Time passes by but the bond between friends remain , sometimes it is months or years before the connection is made again ...but it is there .
Tonight one friend brought her 93 year old Mother with her as she was up visiting . If I have that stamina that this lady has at 93 I will be out dancing ! This woman is so young for her age and doesn't miss a beat ! What a sweetheart ! Some people get old before their time and then there are those that never grow old .......Positive thinking pays off or the fact that she has been a widow for 26 years maybe kept her young ......just kidding .

Make new friends but keep the old . One is silver , the other is gold .

Birthday flowers

" A friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart ".
What a pleasant surprize on my birthday to receive some beautiful flowers from my friend Lisa . Lisa and I met online over a year and a half ago and she and another online friend , Patti came up to visit me last June . It is so strange that we all had an instant repor and how much alike in a lot of things we are . We have our differences in that we are " age gapped " , me being in the middle ( just like in my family ! ) , we all have different lifestyles , one being a divorced Grandma and single , one with a loving commonlaw DH ( but who needs that paper to say they aren't as devoted to each other ) and a 5 year old son and then me ...married FOREVER and a Grandma to 5 ! Although these flowers ended up in the garbage this week ( they lasted almost a month ! ) our friendship is still going strong ! And I can honestly say , they brightened my birthday and they brightened every morning to see them . Thanks Lisa !
" Some people come into our lives and quickly go . Some stay for awhile leaving footprints on our hearts .... and we are forever changed . "

A few cards

I have been busy making cards , just not scrapping my pictures which are piling up all over this room ! I have stamped somewhere on everyone of them ! I don't know what I did before i started with this hobby . Love it and that I can use it with my scrapping as well ! I had a few girls on a message board ask me to teach them how to make cards like I do ...I am flattered but really every card is out of my head with no planning . Don't have a clue how they come together but they do ! They are from my head and from my heart ...each is unique and each made with love ....

Easter has come and gone.....

After a very busy March things haven't slowed down any but just not as stressful . I spent 8 wondeful days at the coast with my family , leaving DH behind to tend the dogs and the cat ! LOL ! His idea I leave on the plane on Good Friday and then come home on the following Saturday ! Got to love that one hour flight as upposed to a 9 hr drive ! I spent Good Friday with my brother and enjoyed every minute of it . We had a late breakfast being I got in a 8:30 am ( yes , I had to be up at 5:00 am to get to the airport in time ! That isn't fun ! ) , we spent a few hours snooping in a few stores and then I got a tour of a neat area called Queen's park in New Westminister ...many older homes and history on every street corner . Some day I am going to get down when the heritage home tour are on so I can see the inside of those old homes . We had lunch at Judy's a quaint little hideaway that was recommended to him . However the guy that told him about it forgot to mention that it is a Granny teahouse ...or that is what it seemed like as everybody in there but my brother was over 70 ( except me ! ) and female !!! LOL ! Good food though . Then a drive up the valley to my family's residence where I spent the next 7 days shopping , visiting and eating .....and admiring all the Spring flowers and green grass ! Yes , we still were getting winter when I left here . Since getting home last Saturday , I have been on a cleaning frenzy trying to get rid of some winter grime and dust . Mind you what gets cleaned , gets dirty almost as quickly as the pups are bringing everything in on their coats .....nice we can finally let them outside though and they can leave most of their business outside instead of wherever !!! They will turned 6 months old this coming week and weigh about 4lbs each now ( give or take an ounce or two with their hair ! ) . I was glad to be home though from holidays . It is always nice to get back to my routine , boring as it may be to some , it is my routine , my animals , my bed and my PHONE ! Our little guy is smiling now and Grandma is having baby withdrawl and really needs to go see our little munchkin ..he turns 6 weeks on Monday !!! DH is going away again on Monday ( he was away Monday and Tuesday of this week ! ) until Wednesday so I wouldn't get down there this coming week ...well maybe !!! Anything is possible !

Was nice to find out Ashley , Christina's little girl is on the mend much like small children do ! It may take some time for her family to get over the horror of the past few weeks though . Ashley , you have a parcel coming your way ! Enjoy ! Ashley's disease sure brought to light what we went through last year at this time with our Granddaughter #3 and just inforces that when a child says they are felling well , something hurts or bruising and marks that appear that shouldn't be ...... then get that little one to the Dr immediately ! By the grace of God both children pulled out of their nightmares and hopefully neighter will have any future ill effects from them .

So here is a final thought , sit back , enjoy life to the fullest , don't sweat the small stuff and most of all , cuddle with your best buddies or loved ones as you never know what the next moment in time will bring .........

Scary stuff

You never realize how close online friends become to being real life friends until something happens that makes you realize that although you don't know these people on a day to day bases other then through the computer , that they have become friends . When something happens to one of their children it brings our world so much closer and that friendship becomes so important to all of us . A few years ago I met online a lady by the name of Sue and we had some good chats online . Heck , I even bought her Sizzix from her and had it shipped to Canada from California . Through Sue , I met Christina and invited her over to LP to join the ladies there . Last night Christina happened to post her DD had small marks on her body and then they started to turn to bruises . Today she took her DD to the Dr and they have diagnosed her small Dd with ITP
http://www.itppeople.com/aboutitp.htm ...... scary stuff !!! Tonight this small girl is have a blood transfusion to build up her depleted blood platelets .........Our thoughts and prayers are with you Christina and your DD ( and your family ) .........

Well you could have knocked me over

Our wonderful Dd gave birth on Monday , March 12 , 2007 at 8:24 am to a beautiful , healthy BABY BOY ! Aiden Richard is our first grandson after 4 beautiful granddaughters . He weighed in at 8 lbs , 21 " long and such a cutie with his full head of black hair ! So far he is a very good baby and loves to sleep ! His sisters adore him and love to help and hold him . They don't even mind the smelly diapers ! Grandpa & i had a busy week as I stayed down to help the family while Grandpa came home to work so Grandma could spend more $s on baby !! A boy is a novelty for sure to shop for - and a bit of a challenge !! grandpa came down to visit and grandma ended up coming home with him as it seems all is going well there without grandma's help ! Not a bad thing though as i wouldn't want to wear out my welcome as I have a baby Boy to go spoil !!

Welcome baby Aiden and know your birth was anticipated for so long and you had so many people pulling for you for months . You hung in there when we thought you wouldn't and I think you have shown us all that you are boy to be reconned with . You are so loved and adored ! Hugs and kisses !!

A few creations

just a few of my stamped creations . I have used stamps from Pink Cat Studios and from Stampin'Up .... I love to play ! It definately does take up some time when DH is watching sports !

Bring on Spring

Guesss these photos say it all ! By the way , the pup is sleeping ! LOL ! He has his butt in the kennel and his head on the carpet .......It's a dog's life !!!

life goes on and on and on....

Just like the energizer bunny ! Time stops for nothing and I can't believe it is already March ! It seems like just yesterday it was Christmas '06 and here it is almost Spring ...well if we could get rid of all the dirty snowbanks outside ! Everything is so dirty and once it starts to dry out then I will be fighting sinuitis and infection ......oh the joys of the Dirty Season !!!

Dh has been really busy at work and is going nuts with all that is going on . His new territory is spread from one end of BC to Alaska and the NWT and I would love to take that road trip with him some day . Needless to say with all that is happening in the North ( right now the Canada Winter Games in Yellowknife , NWT which he supplied units to house all the athletes ) and lots of new " things " happening soon , it will just get busier .

Our newest grandchild will be born within a week and how exciting is that ! It has been such a LONG pregnancy and a rough one for DD that at this point a healthy baby is all we ask for . Regardless to what the sex is , he/she is going to be terribly spoiled ! LOL ! I have already warned Dd as Grandma has a large tote of clothes and other goodies for Baby Bump ! plus all the crocheting I have done for this baby .......including this cute little bunny I made ! LOL ! hey Grandpa has had a good time shopping too !!!
Puppies are growing and are a big whopping 3 lbs at last vet check ! They are 4.5 months old now and are just bundles of energy ! They still torment the hell out of Kandi and Tigger ....Tig just dishes it right back at them though ! Amazing how much he has calmed down since the pups came to live here ...who would have thought that Spaz Cat would accept pups that are so much smaller then he is ...he is a whopping 22 lbs ! Life is never dull nor quiet around here ....and I don't expect it to for some time .....gosh is it time to camping yet and leave the rat race behind ?
Our first camping trip is suppost to take place in the middle of May where we will meet with friends in Jasper , Alberta...pray for a WARM SPRING as it can getting mighty cold and snowy in those mountains ! Should be an experience as we will have 3 dogs with us !
Bring on Spring and sun and green grass !!!

You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you. 51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate. 41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out. 31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever,
gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken. 21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature. UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking
after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Call us crazy

But now we have 3 dogs ! We had Tucker join us in our home ( seen here in DH's arms ) . He is the litter mate to Ryder ( seen between Kandi's " arms " ) . So far things are working out great as now Ryder is sleeping through the night and not in our bed ! That is a bonus ! LOL ! Kandi isn't sure about the whole idea of having 2 pups ( both under 2 lbs ) terrorizing her though ! Not that she is too worried about them ....she just gets tired of them using her as a jungle gym ! As for Tigger the cat ... he isn't concerned at all , it just means he can follow two pups instead on one - or just take over their play yard and kennels for a good nap !

Welcome to our zoo ! LOL !

And we have a new year , a new start

Meet Ryder , my Christmas surprise from DH ....and he really was a secret ! I have no idea how my DH and my DD kept this from me for over 8 weeks but they did ! Imagine my surprise when the " forgot " gift was the puppy that DD had been looking after for " some woman " ! He was a whole whopping 1.5 lbs at 8 weeks and as you can see , he cuddled right up to Kandi ! Is Kandi impressed , not at all ! He loves her and thinks nothing of stealing her bed , stealing her food ( though he is supposed to be eating puppy food ! ) and taking up my attention ! LOL !
Ryder is fitting in very well and DH is now contemplating getting another Yorkie in the near future ! Guess there wouldn't be any cockers for us now after Kandi is gone .

Well 2007 rolled in very quietly here ( much like Christmas ) but today was a lazy day . DH took the lights off the outside trees and I had put away the tree and decorations yesterday . The wreath is still on the door though as I am not ready to can the season done ......
DH is back to work tomorrow and that isn't a bad thing as I really need to get busy and do some scrapping and stamping ! Priorities you know !

So the best to everybody in 2007 and may all your dreams come true and may you have good health and only positive thoughts this year .

I can't say I am sad to say good-bye to 2006 as many negative things have happened to our family this past year . It was like waiting for the other shoe to drop ...only ten fold ! This year is one of hope and excitement . DD should deliver that new grandchild in March and so far so good ! Things are looking up in that department and the time is getting closer . DH's brother called the other day and the chemo treatments are going well , the tumor is shrinking and he feels great ! So what more can you ask for ...a better year and good news !

For the New Year - a prayer

May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart; Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright,even in the shadows;
Not by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people and their causes need you most, and by making you anxious to be there to help.
I pray God's love, peace, hope and joy to all of you in the year ahead!

I can't take credit for this but thank you Shellye for posting it on the MB

It will be over in a week !

Gosh , where has the time gone ? I can't believe that n a week Christmas will have come and gone for yet another year ! After spending hours working at my craft table , I have completed quite a few gifts ( and I am not posting photos YET ! ) , have done very little baking and did the Christmas tree myself ! Last Boxing Day DD & I hit a sale at Canadian TIREand I bught the cutest little train . I never had taken it out of the box until it was time to set it outside . Well being we had HUGE snowbanks we decided to set it on a bench inside at the front window . It is so cute and of course I could not resist giving it some passengers ...the Santa is an Anne Geddes baby that #1 Granddaughter gave me years ago for Christmas .....
So , the rest of the week will consist of me trying to get some baking done and getting ALL our parcels boxed up as we are heading to DD's for Christmas - we may need a moving truck though !SIL is working off and on through the holidays and DD really shouldn't be travelling so we will just bring Christmas to them . Oldest DS is having Christmas at his sister -in-laws's in town with his family so we will try have Christmas when we get home with them . Sometimes it is very hard when one side does not try to accommodate the rest...they were invited to join us ...but they seldom do .. Youngest Ds is going to come with us but who knows , this may be the last year for him too ..... Life is just so unpredictible when they grow up and have their own families .
So I wish each and every one of you and your families a Merry Christmas ...may the season be the best possible and may all your Dreams come true ....

Every Good girl deserves BLING !

Every good girl deserves Bling even if that girl is a dog ! I bought this CUTE daisy collar with BLING from Yvonne on LP as she was selling some stock from a pet store on EBAY . It was so cheap that I couldn't pass it up . She even has a daisy charm with rhinstone on it so now she sparkles ....but as you can see Tigger the cat is NOT impressed ... or maybe he is just jealous ! LOL ! So Santa came early to our Kandi !

I love Maxine !

my dear 70 year old aunt ( okay she is my Mom's cousin ! ) sent this and as I love Maxine , I thought everybody could use a good chuckle .

The Banister of Life As You Slide Down the Banister of Life, Remember ....... 1. Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggert have written an impressive new book. It's called "Ministers Do More Than Lay People." 2. Transvestite: A guy who likes to eat, drink and be Mary. 3. The diffe rence between the Pope and your boss...the Pope only expects you to kiss his ring. 4. My mind works like lightning. One brilliant flash and it is gone. 5. The only time the world beats a path to your door is if you're in the bathroom. 6. I hate sex in the movies. Tried it once. The seat folded up, the drink spilled and that ice, well, it really chilled the mood. 7. It used to be only death and taxes were inevitable. Now, of course, there's shipping and handling, too. 8. A husband is someone who, after taking the trash out, gives the impression that he just cleaned the whole house. 9. My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can. 10. A blonde said, "I was worried that my mechanic might try to rip me off. I was relieved when he told me all I needed was turn signal fluid." 11. I'm so depressed. My doctor refused to write me a prescription for Viagra. He said it would be like putting a new flagpole on a condemned buil d ing. 12. My neighbor was bit by a stray rabid dog. I went to see how he was and found him writing frantically on a piece of paper. I told him rabies could be treated, and he didn't have to worry about a Will. He said, "Will? What Will? I'm making a list of the people I want to bite." 13. Definition of a teenager? God's punishment for enjoying sex. 14. As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way.

Winter Wonderland

Winter has added more white stuff over the weekend ! A good foot fell and then today we got another 6 " ! I can't believe it is only the beginning of December . We may be in for a very white winter , which means we wouldn't be rid of the snow until at least April or May ! It has been years since we have had such an early winter and for the snow to stay . Usually it melts and it is January or February before it starts accumulating . For the first time in 23 yrs . DH got stuck on the big hill coming home as 4 chip trucks hadn't chained up before attempting to come up it . He waited over an hour and a half in a lineup before the vehicles behind him cleared so he could work his way back down the hill and come up a different route home ! Oh the winter joys ! This photo is of our front at 3 pm today ! I think tomorrow DH will be going to buy a snowblower - something he always swore he would never own !

At 4 pm I was in the back of the house which is facing south and this is the sunset I saw ! Isn't it amazing ! The light pink is east and the west has a fire in the sky !

This could be us if the stinkin' snow doesn't quit !

Another from my dear Aunt ! Very appropriate as we had between 8 and 10 more inches in the past 24 hrs !

Subject: : Diary of a Snow Shoveller

This is old but still funny!

Subject: Diary of a Snow Shoveller

December 8: 6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season
and
my wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window
watching
the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma
Moses
Print. So romantic, we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

December 9: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow now
covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can
there be a
lovelier place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've
ever had.
Shoveled for the first time in years, felt like a boy again. I did
both our driveway
and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered
up the
sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a
perfect life.
December 12: The sun has melted all our lovely snow, such a
disappointment.
My neighbor tells me not to worry; we'll definitely have a white
Christmas. No
snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by
the
end of winter that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think
that's possible.
Bob is such a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14: Snow, lovely snow! Eight more inches last night. The
temperature
dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my
breath
away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is
the life!
The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I
didn't realize
I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get
back in shape this way.
I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.
December 15: 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer.
Bought
snow tires for the wife's car and two extra shovels. Stocked the
freezer. The wife
wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's
silly. We aren't in
Alaska, after all.
December 16: Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the
driveway
putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which
I think was very cruel.
December 17: Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go
anywhere. Electricity
was off for five hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm.
Nothing to do now
but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've
bought a wood stove,
but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't
believe I'm freezing to
death in my own living room.
December 20: Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the damn
stuff last night.
More shoveling. Took all day. Goddamn snowplow came by twice. Tried to
find a
neighbourhood kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing
hockey. I think they're
lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a
snow blower, and
they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're
lying. Bob says I
have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's
lying.

December 22: Bob was right about a white Christmas, because 13 more
inches of the
white shit fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt 'till
August. Took me 45
minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel, and then I had to
piss. By the time I got
undressed, pissed and dressed again, I was too tired to shovel! Tried
to hire Bob, who
has a plow on his truck, for the rest of the winter; but he says he's
too busy. I think the
asshole is lying.
December 23: Only 2" of snow today, and it warmed up to "0". The wife
wanted me
to decorate the front of the house this morning. What, is she
nuts!!! Why didn't she tell
me to do that a month ago? She says she did, but I think she's lying.
December 24: 6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel.
Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son-of-a-
bitch who drives that
snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to
death with my
broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me
finish shoveling
and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws
snow all over
everywhere I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing
Christmas carols with her
and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the Goddamn
snowplow.
December 25: Merry freaking Christmas. 20 more inches of the @%$* slop
tonight.
Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God, I hate the
snow! Then the
snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the
head with my shovel.
The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a freaking idiot.
If I have to watch "It's a
Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to stuff her into the
microwave.
December 26: Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here?
It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.
December 27: Temperature dropped to minus 30, and the pipes froze.
Plumber came
after 14 hours of waiting for him; he only charged me $1,400 to
replace all my pipes.
December 28: Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in.
December 29: Ten more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or
it could cave in.
That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?
December 30: Roof caved in. I beat up the snowplow driver. He is now
suing me for a
million dollars; not for only the beating I gave him, but also for
trying to shove the broken
snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. 9" of snow
predicted tonight.
December 31: I set fire to what's left of the house. No more
shoveling.
January 8: Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they
keep giving me.
Why am I tied to the bed?

" Twas the night before Christmas ( a Mom's version )

From my DIL

> T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS (Moms' version)

It was the night
> before Christmas, when all thru the abode Only one creature was
> stirring, and she was cleaning the commode. The children were finally
> sleeping, all snug in their beds, while visions of Barbie and X-Box
> flipped through their heads. The dad was snoring in front of the TV,
> with a half-constructed bicycle propped on his knee.
> So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter, which made her
> sigh, "Now what is the matter?!"
> With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand, She descended the
> stairs, and saw the old man.
> He was covered with ashes and soot which fell with a shrug, "Oh
> great," muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug."
> "Ho Ho Ho!" cried Santa, "I'm glad you're awake."
> "Your gift was especially difficult to make."
> "Thanks, Santa, but all I want is time alone."
> "Exactly!" he chuckled, "So, I've made you a clone."
> "A clone?" she muttered, "What good is that?"
> "Run along, Santa, I've no time for chit chat."
> Then out walked the clone - The mother's twin, Same hair, same eyes,
> same double chin.
> "She'll cook, she'll dust, she'll mop every mess.
> You'll relax, take it easy, watch The Young and The Restless."
> "Fantastic!" the mom cheered. "My dream has come true!"
> "I'll shop, I'll read, I'll sleep a night through!"
> From the room above, the youngest did fret.
> "Mommy?! Come quickly, I'm scared and I'm wet."
> The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart."
> "Hey," the mom smiled, "She sure knows her part."
> The clone changed the small one and hummed her tune, as she bundled
> the child in a blanket cocoon.
> "You're the best mommy ever. I really love you."
> The clone smiled and sighed, "And I love you, too."
> The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal."
> That's MY child's LOVE she is trying to steal."
> Smiling wisely Santa said, "To me it is clear, Only one loving mother
> is needed here."
> The mom kissed her child and tucked her in bed.
> "Thank You, Santa, for clearing my head.
> I sometimes forget, it won't be very long, when they'll be too old for
> my cradle and song."
> The clock on the mantle began to chime.
> Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time."
> With the clone by his side Santa said "Goodnight.
> Merry Christmas, dear Mom, You will be all right."
> Sometimes we need reminding of what life is all about. Especially at
> times
during the Holiday season, when all we seem to do is clean and bake and
shop and and, and, and, and, and, and....You get the picture, I'm sure.
So stop for a moment and hug that little one so special, whether he/she
is 2 years old or 20 years old....Everyone needs your hug!
> For they are the Gift that God gave us in life... and what a gift to
> be treasured, far above any other!
> Seasons greetings to all!

Busy , busy

I can't believe how much time I have spent in my she-den at my scrap table in the last month ! I feel like I should just move my kitchen fridge in here and I would be set to go ! I can honestly say I have got half way through my list of things to do . At the moment I have completed 4 birthday cards , a lot of Christmas gifts and ....oh can't say !!! LOL ! I found some glue runner that works great on altered " things " . It is call UHU glue roller and is available at Wally World . As of tonight , I have gone through 9 of these rollers in the past month and 2 UHU office glue .... that is a whole lot of sticking stuff down ! I am going to have nightmares about this glue ! I have stamped , glued , cut and colored . I have shopped for 4 birthdays and wrapped those gifts . My rooms are getting full of Christmas gifts that have to be wrapped soon as I have out of town parcels that have to get sent out soon . I don't even know when I will get the tree up or the outside light outs !
We have had such a blast of winter since Halloween . I couldn't even tell you how much snow we have as the wind has whipped around into drifts . Some spots are an inch deep and some are 3' deep . Now we are contending with the cold weather . -33 C this morning ....but not as bad as where DS lives , it was -47 C .... now that is stinkin' cold ! Fortunately the sun shone today so it appeared to be warm .... I ventured down to the mail any I can honestly say " Damn it was cold walking !!!
DH had his birthday on Sunday and our oldest son invited us for dinner - spaghetti ! Yummy , especially when I didn't have to cook ! We had gone out for lunch with some of our camping friends and had a great visit in the pub . The food was good too ! All in all DH had a great birthday . One more year closer to retirement ! !!!

Tis a month before christmas

Tis the Month Before Christmas
Tis the month before Christmas, we're all going nuts; With so much to do, there's no ifs, ands or buts.Buy presents, hang tree lights, pop cards in the mail,Send gift packs, thread popcorn, find turkeys on sale.
Decorations need stringing up all through the house. And you haven't a clue what to buy for your spouse.School concerts, receptions, open houses with friends,Long lineups, short tempers, tying up the loose ends.
With all our mad dashing, we're reeling from shock;Let's stop for a minute and really take stock. It's crassly commercial, the cynical say;If that's true, that our fault-it's us and not they.
Take time for yourself-though hard as that seems—Enjoy your kids' laughter, excitement and dreams.Take a moment out now, don't get overly riled,Instead make an angel in snow with your child.
The shortbread can wait, and so can the tree; What's important to feel is a child's sense of glee. The holidays aren't about push, rush and shove; They're for friendship and sharing and family love.
Hear the bells, feel the warmth, light up with the glowOf a message first sent to us so long ago:Peace, love and goodwill, and hope burning bright.Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
Thanks Louise for sending me this !

10 days but who is counting ?

I can't believe that 10 days have passed since DH went " up North " with our boys on a deer hunting trip . He will be home tomorrow already ! I think I have stagnated in my she-den and only came out to eat ! LOL ! I am happy though as I did get a couple projects done that are to be Christmas gifts . So now the next project will be to start some Christmas cards and I have birthday cards to make too ! Sheesh ! Actually , on Thursday I hit the mall by myself and and browsed for almost 3 hours ! Seems like it has been forever since I got to do that ... and I only bought a couple of things .... something must be wrong with me ! I was in a store that sells some scrapping products and the owner of the store was in there ( which is rare ) and she called me into the back room to show me all the new products she brought in for Christmas ..... great stuff but I doubt I will be buying from her as her prices are SUPER HIGH ..... she did have a couple really neat ideas though , one being a tray that you scrap the bottom of it , not something I would want but it would sure be a great gift for those hard to buy people !
I also managed to crochet one baby sweater set and one one baby afghan .... this baby will be well equipped with crocheted outfits and blankets !!! DD goes to the dr on Monday and so far so good ... only 4 more months !
Out of the 4 guys that went hunting , only 1 deer was shot . DH isn't upset as he said we never eat it regardless and DS would get it for his freezer . His wife wouldn't be happy as he never got one either ! ............He may be out in the shed sleeping tomorrrow night ! LOL !!
Guess it is back to cooking and cleaning and laundry next week ........................ YIPPY SKIPPY !!!

For those from BC

I just read this on www.scrapgalaxy.com and it was good for a chuckle !

Sat Nov 11, 2006 1:59 am Post subject: For all you BC people!

You Know You're From British Columbia When...
You know the provincial flower You consider that if it has no snow, it is not a real mountain.
You can taste the difference between Starbucks, Blendz, and Tim Horton's. You know how to pronounce Squamish, Osoyoos & Nanaimo.
You can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai food.
In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark - while only working eight-hour days.
You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.
You know that Dawson Creek is a town, not a TV show.
You can point to at least two ski mountains, even if you cannot see through the cloud cover. You notice "the mountain is out" when it is a pretty day and you can actually see it.
You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 5, but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
You switch to your sandals when it gets about 10, but keep the socks on.
You recognize the background shots in your favourite movies & TV shows.
You buy new sunglasses every year, because you can't find the old ones after such a long time. You use a down comforter in the summer.
The local hero is a pot-smoking snowboarder
The local wine doesn't taste like malt vinegar
Your $400,000 Vancouver home is 5 hours from downtown
You can throw a rock and hit three Starbucks locations
You've been to a deforestation protest
If a cop pulls you over, just offer them some of your hash
It's November, it's raining, but you're still wearing birkenstocks
You go broke just paying rent.
You don't own a heavy winter coat
You can't figure out why Manitoba is considered part of Western Canada.
You wouldn't be caught dead on Vancouver Island or Vancouver without your umbrella and plastic shoes.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from British Columbia

Those I lift my hat too

It has been a rollercoaster ride for the past 6 months so I have decided that life is too short not to realize and recognize a few people that have touched my life in a positive way. The first is my DH , he is my rock , he is my life , my best friend and the one that drives me crazy a lot of the time ...... If you believe in soul mates then he is mine . I can't imagine life without him . He spoils me rotten ( quit laughing those of you that know me ! LOL ! ) and loves me deeply- and I him - and has for 33 years .....with many a bump along the way . It did not ' break " us , just strengthened the bond.....
MY DD for overcoming so many heartbreaks and picking herself up and moving on with life , for getting her education the hard way by correspondence and again bucking the system to get where she is today in her life ! For being the best Damn Mom and Wife there is to her sweet girls and her husband and riding the rollercoaster ride she is on with this pregnancy ... Hang tight little one it is a rocky ride ! We love you and your family ......
My boys for both doing so well in the jobs and having the abilities that their Dad instilled on them about work ethics . We are proud of you and the lives you are creating .......
My friend Lisa and my friend Patti ... both of you started out as online friends and have become so much more . Patti , it is great that you felt comfortable enough to leave your comfort zone and come visit me ! Lisa , what can I say about you except" you go girl !" I love that you are not afraid to go after your passion and run with it ! Don't forget me when you make your first millions !!! LOL !!!!
To my dear brother , you are an inspiration even though you are riding a rocky ride with your life right now . You have a " rock " to lean on through all of this and I am so thankful ...go forward and be the best you can be and hold your head up high .....remember I love you regardless..... and thankful for " your rock "
My sister In law for having the fortitude to lose close to 65 lbs and have the stamina to keep it off through all you have been through this year ..... I am so proud of you !
My parents for raising us kids with the right values and loving us regardless to the circumstances when most parents may have given up nor ever having to go through . Raising kids in the '50 , '60's and '70 was a challenge ......
My sister , whom will always be my BIG sister . She is the family glue that feeds everybody when we get together and has developed a close relationship with our parents since they moved close . Thank heavens somebody is close to them in their Golden Years and I thank you for that !
So I lift my hat to you all .............

ANOTHER DAY !

Oh , oh this is a BAD sign ! Here it is November 7th already and I haven't got any of my Christmas projects started yet ! Okay , Grandma needs to put down the crochet hook and get busy on scrapping ! LOL ! Let see , in the past 3 weeks or so I have completed 3 baby afghans and one sweater . Babies are popping out all over between now and next month ! J's daughter's Mother had a baby boy 2 weeks ago and my nephew and his wife had a baby girl last week . they called the 7 lb bundle Ellison Faith so of course she has to have a pink afghan from great Auntie ! I just need to sit and make a card so that can be shipped off . K's nephew and wife are expecting a son in December so that means a blue afghan for there ! And as for DD ..... she said if she finds out on Friday ( They don't want to know the sex ! ) she isn't telling . I will have to go shopping with her to see if she starts buying blue or pink sleepers ! LOL ! I don't care as I will buy and buy and buy ...hehe .....I'm not fussy , I just want a healthy baby there !

I spent a few days down with DD & family last week . I can't believe how fast those girls are growing up ! #2 Grd is starting to look like such a lady now with those LONG legs and fine features of her's and she wouldn't be 10 until Dec 1 ! At least she is a kid still at heart and acts like it ! #3 Grd has such a love for her baby dolls and her puppy Riley ! She takes him for a walk in her doll stroller through the house and he just sits there ! It is so funny ! SIL went into the kitchen the other night and there was Riley just sitting in the stroller .......... he had been forgot about an hour later and was still waiting for another ride ! LOL !
Gr#1 and her parents came for dinner on Sunday night . She is 11 going on 15 ! Yikes , how grown up she acts , sad as her childhood has disappeared from her so early ...... .........
